As thousands of fresh graduates are striving hard to get a good job in IT field, the competition is growing higher and higher day by day. However, if you look at the starting salary offered by even the top notch companies like Honeywell (in India), you don't even get Rs8000 as take home salary.

The list of corporate giants that are paying < 10k/month (INR) is almost endless, and today it has simply become survival of the fittest. No company wants to keep people on the bench, and pay them for sitting idle, so even if you do a fantastic job on a project, and then don't find another project for next few months, your job may be at stake.

I had faced similar situation when I worked for an IT company, and that's when my focus shifted to new things that have huge earning potential - SEO, and blogging to be precise.

Search engine optimization is one of the promising career options today, provided you can find the right organization to grow along.

Most of the start up companies have amazing potential for freshers, while the well-established ones won't give you the same opportunities to grow (as they don't have shortage of good candidates to fit the vacancies).

Furthermore, SEO is a really interesting field unlike programming wherein you get paid for simply doing what you love to (at least in my case), and there's a whole lot of flexibility in terms of job roles as well.
